Women’s Leadership Forum to highlight leadership and inclusivity in the Minnesota National Guard
September 5, 2019 (RICHFIELD, Minnesota) — The Minnesota National Guard will host its 5th annual Women’s Leadership Forum Saturday, September 7, at the Best Buy Corporate Headquarters in Richfield. The goal of the event is to empower female leaders within the organization, as well as to provide education to all Guardsmen who lead and mentor female soldiers and airmen.
“The Women’s Leadership Forum is held to promote an inclusive culture to encourage career and life success for soldiers and airmen in the Minnesota National Guard,” said Capt. Chloee Carlson, the event organizer. “This year’s theme, ‘Breaking the Mold,’ will empower women in our organization to network, mentor and lead each other into positions of greater responsibility.”
The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. with remarks from Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen and a keynote address by Corie Barry, CEO of Minnesota-based Best Buy Inc. Breakout sessions throughout the day will focus on career development, communication, retention and critical thinking.
Currently, women make up nearly 20 percent of the Minnesota National Guard and are able to serve in all positions in the organization.
