Colonel Stefanie Horvath to Promote to Brigadier General
July 8, 2019 — (ROSEMOUNT, Minnesota) — Army Col. Stefanie K. Horvath will be promoted to the rank of Brigadier General during a pinning ceremony, July 9, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. in Rosemount. Horvath is the second woman to achieve the rank of Brigadier General in the Minnesota Army National Guard.
Horvath joined the National Guard in 1991 after graduating from Officer Candidate School. A native of Minot, she served in the North Dakota National Guard prior to joining the Minnesota National Guard in 1998. Horvath has deployed twice in her military career. During her deployment to Kosovo in 2003-04, Horvath was the only female in her battalion. She deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009-10. Horvath is a 2013 Army War College graduate.
The promotion ceremony will take place Tuesday, July 9 at the Rosemount National Guard Armory, 13865 S Robert Trail, Rosemount, MN 55068. Horvath’s wife, Christy, and twin daughters will take part in the ceremony. Media members are invited to attend the ceremony as well as a media availability period beginning at noon.
